About Me

At Duke, I am jointly appointed to the Pratt School of Engineering and the Kenan Institute for Ethics.  I consult with engineering faculty on ethics, design courses and programming to cultivate positive character traits, teach students, and engage in research (mostly in applied ethics, political philosophy, and pedagogy).

I live in Durham with my wonderful wife, joyful son, and baby daughter.  We enjoy reading and spending time in nature.

At Baylor, I was president of the philosophy graduate student body and a coach for the bioethics bowl team.  I was also a graduate fellow on a Templeton grant called Testing Patience: A Philosophical Prelude to Interdisciplinary Study with PI Anne Jeffrey.

My dissertation, "The Ethics of Politicization," gave an account of what it means to politicize and provided a moral evaluation of the phenomenon.  My committee included Francis Beckwith, David Corey, Robert Talisse, Anne Jeffrey, and Thomas Hibbs.
